Meet
Nurse Whitley
The interesting thing about being a nurse is that there are endless opportunities—and I've tried most of them. From the emergency department to float pool, home health, assisted living, clinics, and everything in between, every time I became uncomfortable in one role, it was easy to transition into another.
But after enough moves, I noticed something surprising.
The setting changed. The challenges didn't.
Burnout. Stress. Patient satisfaction. Staffing. Different jobs, different buildings, but many of the same problems wearing different clothes.
It made me wonder: How could a profession meant to do so much good leave so many good people feeling so defeated?
That question changed the way I looked at healthcare.
I realized I may not be able to change the entire system, but I can change how I think about it, how I respond to it, and how I practice within it. And I believe that better thinking leads to better practice—for ourselves, our teams, and ultimately our patients.
Whitley Talks Too Much was born from that journey.
This is where I explore the ideas, honest conversations, humor, and practical insights that have helped me build a more sustainable career in healthcare. My hope is that they'll help you do the same.
Whether you're here to laugh, reflect, challenge your thinking, or simply remember why you chose this profession in the first place, I'm glad you're here.
If nursing is a calling, let's learn how to stay in the conversation.
